The portal crane (also known as gantry crane) design is available in both single and double girder.
It is typically suited to outdoor applications where lifting facilities are provided, without the cost of a building or any supporting steelwork. Portal cranes are also suited to indoor applications where existing building structures are not suitable to take overhead cranes and/or where additional supporting steelwork would result in a loss of floor area. We also manufacture portal cranes with a cantilever to allow handling outside the rail centres.
Typical applications for this type of crane include steel distribution yards, loading docks and bays, concrete batching plants, civil construction & engineering industry, energy & power generation plants and ship building.
